Jennifer Garner, who was born in and raised in Charleston West Virginia, on April 17th, 1973 is from Houston, Texas. William John Garner was her father and a chemical engineering company called Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local school. In order to continue in the tradition of her father, she obtained a degree in chemical engineering. Her move to New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. She worked as a chef in a New York restaurant and was a part of Broadway productions. In the TV series "Felicity," she had an appearance in a brief scene. (It is in this show where she got to know her husband Scott Foley. Garner made her breakthrough with the action-thriller "Alias." Her first lead role was in the widely praised romance "13 Going on 30." The film starred her as an teen who was trapped in the body of the 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick (director) to create the film. The two looked for new projects to do until Winick passed away in 2011. Garner became an ambassador of Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The role includes promoting national literacy, nutrition, and early learning. Garner was a member as a member of the board since 2014, serves as an advocate for early education. She visits many families in Early Steps to School Success the program created to help parents understand how to support their child's education - acting as an ambassador.
